Ingredients

  • 3 cups (about 450g) fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 8 oz (about 225g) cream cheese, cubed
  • 1 box (about 15.25 oz) vanilla cake mix (boxed)
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick / 113g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Butter a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced strawberries with sugar and lemon juice (if using). Let sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Spread the sugared strawberries evenly in the baking dish. Scatter cubed cream cheese over the strawberries.
  4. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the top without stirring.
  5. Pour the melted butter evenly across the cake mix.
  6. Bake for 40–45 minutes until the top is golden brown and the strawberries are bubbly.
  7. Let cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Tips: Soften the cream cheese slightly for easier cubing. Drizzle butter evenly for best results. Allow the cake to rest before serving for a cleaner cut. Variations: Use mixed berries, add chocolate chips, or sprinkle nuts on top. Gluten-free cake mix can be used as a substitute.
